Bake Off

The most delicious competition of the Harvest Fair is back again for another tasty year. Bakers come show off your talents in the 2016 Harvest Fair Bake-Off. A bake sale will be held after the judging.

Bake-Off Rules

  • Please bring all Bake-Off entries to the Contest Drop-Off area at the HES driveway “loop” between 9:30 – 10:30 AM on the day of the Fair.
  • The recipe must accompany each entry.
  • Please use disposable dishes only.
  • Please note that no refrigeration is available.
  • Judging will begin at 10:45 AM and results will be posted at the Bake-Off area of the Contest Tent. A bake sale will follow where all entries and winners will be sold for $1.00 a serving.

2016 Categories
Adults:

  • Perfectly Pumpkin Recipe
  • Holiday Cupcakes or Cake Pops
  • Sandwich Cookies

Twelve and Under:

  • Candies and No-Bake Sweets

Kids Art Competition

Suggested themes:
• Animals in Hopewell Valley
• Nature/Landscapes
• Still Life
• Portraits
• Abstract Art
• Humor/Cartoon

Judging Categories:
• Preschool
• Grades K-5
• Grades 6-8
• Grades 9-12

Art Work Guidelines
• All artwork must be submitted unframed and no larger than 18″x24″.
• Please label all artwork with the artist’s name, age, and title of masterpiece.
Rules and Registration Information
• A short explanation or story submitted with your creation is welcomed!
• All entries must be submitted on the day of the fair at the Contest Tent or the Contest Drop-off area at the HES driveway “loop” from 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM. At that time you’ll be asked to fill out a registration form or pre-register online at our website.
• Ribbons will be awarded by 3 PM.
• All artwork or creations must be picked up between 3 PM and 4 PM.
• Any artwork that is not picked up by 4 PM will be discarded
• Contest is open to all preschool and school aged children, including those who are in
public and private schools, and home-schooled.

Kids Lego and K’nex Contest

Suggested themes:
• Animal
• Vegetable
• Mineral
• Other (buildings, vehicles, etc.)

Judging Categories:
• Preschool
• Grades K-5
• Grades 6-8
• Grades 9-12

Lego/K’nex Guidelines
• All Lego/K’nex projects must be submitted on a sturdy base no larger than 18″x24″.
• The use of Lego or K’nex “kits” is discouraged. A masterpiece may include a kit
construction, but cannot be made solely of a pre-packaged kit
• Please do not include any “valuable” or rare figures or parts. We cannot guarantee the
security of all pieces.

Photography Contest

If you are a hobbyist, enthusiast, technical perfectionist or creative artistic photographer come on out and enter the Hopewell Harvest Fair 2016 photography contest!  Judged by the photographers of entwined, this year’s contest has some new, fun categories. Ribbon Prizes will be awarded to the Adult and Child Winners in these categories:

  • Hope
  • Scarlett
  • Together
  • Sourlands
  • Wild

Rules and Registration Information:
There will be 2 groups per category: 14 & under, 15 & up. Full-resolution images can be emailed to purplecirclesarah@gmail.com and will be printed in 5×7 size (5 total entries per participant) for presentation at the Fair. Hard-copy entries can be dropped off at 14 Louellen Street in Hopewell. There is no fee to enter, and one winner will be selected from each group per category.

Deadline for digital entries:
September 19, emailed to purplecirclesarah@gmail.com

Hard copy entries deadline:
September 22, dropped off at 14 Louellen St., Hopewell.

Home Grown Contest

What Does Your Garden Grow? Gardeners, bring us your best!

Do you have a green thumb and want to show off the outstanding fruits of your labor?  Everyone is welcome to display their fabulous fruits, verdant veggies or fantastic flowers for the admiring members of the community.  Did you grow the the most beautiful berry this summer or have a tomato that was just too gorgeous to eat?  Or perhaps you can create the loveliest flower out of a lowly radish?  If so, then this is the place for you!

Please note: Photos of your bounty are welcome as well.

2016 Categories:

  • Fantastic Flowers | Share your favorite colorful blooms from your yard!
  • Edible Art | Radish roses? Carrot rabbits? Go wild with your artistic side!
  • Great Gourds | Squash, gourds, pumpkins…bring ’em on!
  • Big & Beautiful Bounty | Huge Zucchini? Big tomato?  Show them off!

Contest Rules

Please bring your entries to the Contest Drop-off area at the HES driveway “loop” between 9:30 am  and 10:30 am on the day of the fair. You’ll be asked to complete an entry form for each item.

Judging will begin around 11:00 am.

If you wish to reclaim your item at the end of the day, please pick it up between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm on the day of the fair at the Homegrown Contest booth.  Any items remaining after 4:00 PM will be regretfully discarded or appreciatively enjoyed by Fair volunteers!
